MINUTES AND MEETING NOTES
In accordance with the requirements of the United States Code of Federal Regulations, Title 21, Chapter 1, Subchapter A, Part 56, the thirty-fifth regular quarterly meeting of the American Naturopathic Research Institute (ANRI) and the Naturopathic Oncology Research Institute (NORI) and the International Naturopathic Clinical Research Institute (INCRI) and the Institutional Review Board (IRB) was called to order at 12:00 p.m., August 10, 2018 at 1250 E. Baseline Rd., Suite 205, meeting in Suite 203, Tempe, AZ 85283.
MEMBERS AND GUESTS
17 members and guests were in attendance. This included 13 physicians and 4 non-physicians,
The meeting was called to order at 12:00 pm.
We welcomed two new guests.
Dr. Haltiwanger would like to speak to us about the importance of minerals against cancer. He would need a commitment of 10 people, at $165 each. This would be a 7-hour lecture. Dr. Haltiwanger addresses Dr. Hans Nieper’s work regarding minerals and the cell membrane.
A participant mentioned an article he had read, from the 1960’s, discussing depleted minerals in the soil, how minerals had been lost over the previous 50 years. Well, we can now consider that another 50 years has passed. So how much worse now is our mineral intake from our food?
A new research proposal was presented for our review. The following topics were discussed:
Response rate, history of use, populations for use, indications, mechanism of action, possible side effects, safety precautions, treatment strategies and techniques and documentation in the peer-reviewed literature.
11 people voted to approve this study for specific indications.
FDA RECENT ACTIVITIES
We discussed some of FDA’s recent actions since we last met.
We discussed the political campaign of a local aspiring candidate.
Mitochondria and the Future of Medicine was written by Dr Lee Know, a Canadian naturopathic physician. In it, Dr. Know describes in an engaging way the history of what we know of the origin of mitochondria, and why they are central to productive functioning of our bodies. The optimal function of our mitochondria is indispensable to freedom from disease. Dr. Know’s book has done quite well on and can be purchased on Amazon.
Chelating iron can help with COPD. One participant said Disodium EDTA has chelated iron effectively, on a 3 hour drip. This has helped bring down iron levels. Other minerals supplemented seem to have protected from hemochromatosis.
Deferiprone = Ferriprox is an oral chelating agent. Deferoxamine is an IV chelator of iron.
The next meeting will be held on Friday, November 9, 2018 at noon, the usual place.
